When New Habits Starts To Show - Letting go of perfectionism
Working hard don't always give you the results you want if you don't have the right foundations in place.
A Few Years Ago, Taking Care Of Myself Wasn't Exactly High On My Priorities...
Sleep was restless, my energy was inconsistent and I didn’t know if I fueld my body right.
And I just needed something to change.
I spended time working out but without seing the results I wanted. Why?
Firstly - Am I Fueling My Body Right?
Firstly, I had a look at my diet. ''Makro'' was a new word for me. It told me I currently ate about ¼ of what I need in protein in order to get the most out of my workouts.
My diet had to change. More protein and more home cooked meals.
Secondly - Better Quality Sleep
Secondly, I knew I needed better quality sleep. I'm a light sleeper and have trouble falling asleep. Sometimes taking me hours... I had heard that creatine can help with that. Creatine is mostly known for its physical enhancing qualities, but it can also have big mental benefits like helping you sleep better, enhancing focus, and minimizing risk of depression. Nowadays (almost every night), I sleep like a baby through the night - waking up rested and ready. 💪
Thirdly - Perfectionism Is Killing My Progress
Thirdly, I’ve always kept myself to high standards, but that hasn’t always served me.
For a long time, it made me feel like I wasn’t good enough and not worthy. And I felt like - if I can’t do it perfectly - I’m not doing it at all.
But I have learned that perfectionism is a form of procrastination that keeps you from taking action. And realising this changed everything. Removing this pressure from myself finally allowed me to feel good about the progress I make, no matter how small, they matter and all add up to something big. It’s not about making it perfect, it’s about daring to try, fail, try again, fall short, adjust, not give up, and eventually, you’ll get there.
What It Is All About
And that’s what growth and progress really is.
Not a perfect plan, not a flawless streak,
but a thousand small steps that quietly transform who you are.
So don’t give up. One day you’ll look in the mirror and realize -
your habits are showing. ✨
(P.S. This is the creatineI’ve been using as part of my routine - it’s been a small thing that’s made a big difference for me.)
